I Survived

I babysat a 4 year old for 24 hours and we both lived to tell the tale.  It's not easy work. I may not want little Osbotts any time soon, but we had a good time and I kept her somewhat entertained.

Friday night she wanted to rent a movie, so we walked up to the convenience store.  She pulled out two options for me, Barbie and Spongebob.  I vetoed those options, so she chose The Lorax.  It was better than Barbie I'm sure.
The cat thinks she likes chocolate covered almonds...
Saturday, Ryan was up at the crack of dawn to go register our teams for the upcoming annual plunger plop.  He had to get in line and then wait until 1pm when he could actually register.  The plunger plop is kind of a big deal.  So Dew and I walked up to visit at around 9.  It was a long walk for a four year old.  It took a bit longer than it should have....

Once we got home, she helped me make cookies.  My camera was acting up, and I hate posting blurry pictures, but I thought it was hilarious that Pipsi loved her so much and wanted in on the action.

And the best part of baking cookies?  Licking the bowl of course!

In the afternoon, we went out to my Aunt and Uncle's mill and went skating.  I don't know the last time I was pond skating, but it was kind of fun.  It's nice to take advantage of nice winter weather.  This whole weekend was snowy, but not too cold.  Perfect for outdoor activities!
So that was our busy day.  Needless to say, I fell asleep on the couch before 10....but that's really not any different from most weekends.  I'm cool like that.

Year End

I wrote half of this post last night, finished it this morning and just realized that I posted it last night.  So if anybody read it, sorry that it probably made no sense.  Oops.  #bloggerfail (How annoying is it when people use hash tags and they aren't on twitter #annoying).

Yesterday was the first day of what us accountants call year end.  It's that time of year when not only do you have to do all of your normal work, but there is additional work on top of that. Work that you haven't done since a year ago, so hopefully you have good notes!  It's actually not that bad, I'm just raking in the overtime and trying to semi keep some work life balance at the same time.  We will see how I am in a month.  Probably stressed and 10 pounds heavier..... One thing about me is that I don't handle stress well, I'm working on it.  (I'm really not though).

All of that work will probably seem easy after this weekend.  I'm babysitting a four year old for 24 hours.  I know all the parents are out there saying, so?  But I'm scared.  I don't know how to keep this kid entertained.  Renting a kids movie and giving her a bath.  That's all I've got.  Last time I took care of her I kept her entertained with a bosu and some colouring.  Maybe I will try that again.

And to make sure this post is completely random, we watched Final Destination 5 on New Years day.  I now can't have laser eye surgery or acupuncture.  It was one thing when that movie was ruining fake tanning for me, but now it's ruining things that I actually maybe wanted to do.  That's all folks, happy random Thursday.

Resolutions Scmesolutions

How better to ring in the new year than with wine shots?  Actually I could think of much better ways, those things were forced upon me and were not enjoyable.

We had a good New Years Eve filled with food, friends and laughter.  Only problem was when we missed the count down because the TV was on a Winnipeg station and apparently Winnipeg is an hour behind us.  So we celebrated New Years again at 1:00am.

As for New Years Resolutions, I think they are silly.  If we want to make a life change then do it, don't wait until January 1.  Also I hate that my fitness classes and yoga studios are probably going to be overcrowded for the next 3 weeks.  I plan on continuing to do what I have been doing.  Keep trying to eat healthy and work out harder, but that's an ongoing struggle.  And cut back on the wine shots.  That shouldn't be too hard.

I hope that 2013 is a great year for you all!
