A Game of Who Dun It?

I know that I said that I would have a story about wine, but sometimes real life happens and the pre-planned posts have to wait until next week.

We have a mystery in our house.

Wednesday night I woke up at around 2:00 am to the sound of water.  It sounded like the shower and I thought, it must be raining hard.  I woke up again at 2:30.  I thought maybe Ryan is showering.  (Why would I think that?  Because he has been known to get out of bed and shower when he realizes that he hasn't showered that night.)  Then I heard him breathing next to me.

So I get up, and sure enough, the shower is running.

Was it Ryan?  Was it Me?  Are we sleepwalkers?  Do we have a ghost?  Was it the cat?

We are thinking, for our own sanity, that the cat turned it on.  It's the most reasonable explanation.

This seems like an unreasonable explanation, but last week the knob broke and Ryan has temporarily fixed it but sticking a toolie thing (that's not it's official name) on there to pull out when we want to turn it on.  It's kind of flimsy and we figure if she was playing with it, it might turn on.  That's what we are hoping anyways, otherwise something weird is going on....

Tubs aren't meant to have their pictures taken - notice the contraption where the knob should be

Weirdness

My blog might be a bit weird for a bit tonight.  Changes are coming and they are going to be beautiful! So please excuse the mess.

Update:  It is beautiful but a few things may not be working as they should.  But soon!

Shhhh....Don't Tell

I want to tell a story about wine, but I feel that to get to that story I have to tell another one.  I'm going to wander back in time to October 2011, a year ago from this weekend, and let everyone in on a very private event.  My bachelorette party.  What happens at the bachelorette stays at the bachelorette.  But since nothing overly scandalous happened, and my sister has had these pictures on Facebook, I think that it's acceptable to share.  I'm doing this mostly because I just came across the pictures, and was reminiscing about what an awesome time we had!

So we decorated the car.  My sister may or may not still have some of the stickers on the windows almost a year later.  Clearly she never wants the party to end.

We headed to wine country, Niagara, and did 3 winery tastings and a tour.  I'm putting this picture up with my eyes closed because it's good of everyone else and I'm nice like that.
We came out of the one tasting and my sister and her friend had two dogs.  We don't know who gave them dogs or why.  But it was probably a bad idea.
This was at Flat Rock Cellars.  Beautiful place and amazing wine.

 Drinks were had.

We headed out to the bar in St. Catharines.
Fun times were had by all.  Well I guess I can't speak for everyone.  I had a great time.

We hired a stripper.
Ok no we didn't.  We just talked this guy into taking his shirt off.  Which he did, and then proceeded to climb on the table.  It was bad news bears.

We took a cousins picture, and Kim photobombed it.
I resisted the shot that looked like green Pepto.  But I'm pretty sure I did it anyways.
So there you go.  Don't you feel like you were let in on a magical night?  It was a great night and in case I haven't said it before, or enough, I am extremely grateful to my amazing friends for throwing me an awesome party!

Party Rockin'

So this past weekend some friends and I headed down to Toronto to celebrate my cousin Brittney's 26th birthday.  It was a struggle to get there let me tell you.  They closed one block of Yonge street just because they felt like it and had us weaving all over downtown T.O.  But we did make it.  Lucky for Britt.  We didn't get so frustrated that we turned around and went home, but it was close.
Britt lives right in the heart of Toronto.  I'm a country girl, but it is pretty neat to be able to walk across the street to the grocery store, or down a few blocks to the mall.

Of course presents were involved.
How cool is this sweater?  Ok it looks confusing but it can go multiple ways.  It looked ever so cozy.

Success...kinda

And no birthday is complete without cake.  Red Velvet to be exact.  So delicious.
So after all of those birthday festivities, somebody thought it would be a good idea to do tequila shots.  I do enjoy some tequila, so I went along with it.  But we had no lemons, so we thought, let's try it with sugar and pineapple.  DO NOT EVER DO THIS.  It was a bad idea. So bad.
Oh ya and this guy showed up.  I think his face says it all when it comes to what that shot tasted like.  And I'm questioning right now whether Jacqui even did the shot. It isn't looking like it.  She faked us out.
We did go out to a bar.  It was one I had never been to before and there was a room with a Piano man who plays popular songs on his piano.  It's so neat!  Good times were had by all.

Can't say that good times were had on Sunday. That tequila shot definitely was not my friend.

I Watch Too Much TV

At least I'm honest about my addiction, right?  So in honour of the new TV season starting, I thought I would go over some of my favourite shows.  I do have a weekend post, but I was having some troubles uploading pictures this morning, so we will save that one for tomorrow.

Let's start with Glee. Who doesn't love Glee?  Okay, I'm sure there are some people out there.  But it's just such a feel good show.  It always makes me smile.  I'm very interested to see what they do with the Rachel in New York story line.  I'm kind of afraid that everyone will like that story line more than the actual Glee club.  Seriously, there is nobody interesting left in Glee club except for Britney.

"That's a great haircut Mercedes - I thought you graduated." - Brittany S. Pierce

 Hilarious.

On to the next.  The Amazing Race.  I don't have much to say about this except that I love it.  A reality show that focuses on the game instead of the relationships between competitors.  So refreshing.

How I Met Your Mother.  There are very few good sitcoms left. This is one of them.  I'm afraid we are getting close to the time where this one needs to wrap up though.  I think we all just want to meet the mother.

{Pinterest}
Oh I lied.  New Girl is a fantastic sitcom.  Last year I turned on the series premiere and Ryan said "DO NOT start watching a new show."  Oops.  I typically break out in this theme song randomly.  "Hey girl, watcha doin?  Hey girl, where you goin'?"  I will sing the rest in my head.  Unlike what I did last night when I sang the whole thing at the dinner table.  Ryan says I'm special.

One of the few shows that Ryan and I actually watch together is Criminal Minds.  I can't wait til this one starts.  I feel like it makes me more intelligent.  Or at least more aware of the creepers out there.

Let's combine Grey's Anatomy and Private Practice into one.  Private Practice only has 13 episodes this season I think.  So then I will be down a TV show, which is probably a good thing.

{via}
And last but not least, my latest obsession, The Vampire Diaries.  Now that I'm used to watching episode after episode on DVD it's going to be difficult to wait a week in between episodes.  I'm still Team Damon.  I feel bad for the guy, why does everyone always love Stefan more?  Like really, his name is Stefan....

So where do I fit in time to study, clean the house, do the laundry etc?  Who knows.  That's future Kaileigh's problem.

Sorry this post got out of hand.  This is just how much I love TV.

Friday's Letters

Today I'm linking up with Ashley at Adventures of Newlyweds for Friday's Letters.
Photobucket

Dear Husband:  Thank you for the delicious dinner that you made me last night.  I loved it.  Dear Oliver: I will miss having you around.  I'm sorry that Ryan doesn't feel the same.  I'm sure Pipsi will be lonely without you too.  Dear body: Not appreciating your weight gain.  And don't blame it on my eating habits.  I expect you to be used to those and find ways to burn those extra calories.  Plus I gave you a month without ice cream and cheese.  Come on!  Dear Friday: I love you.  That is all.  Dear spin class: I will see you bright and early tomorrow morning.  When I tell you I hate you, I don't mean it.  Really I love you, I just hate the pain.  Dear Husband: Think of all the activities you can get done while I'm away this weekend.  Try not to miss me too much.

When a Dog Comes to Visit

So this week and last week we have been babysitting Oliver while my parents are in Vegas.  This means that we are living in a nut house since the cat and dog just chase each other cosntantly.  Plus, we have to lock Oliver up at night and let me tell you, listening to the poor pup cry that entire first night was torture.  Ryan of course slept through it.  He's been getting a bit better, he only cries for the first bit now and then I think he falls asleep.

Who does she think she is?  Sitting at the table like a people

Pipsi likes to show Oliver who's boss.  He was looking out the window, so of course she had to go jump on the window sill and scare him away.
He's such a little scruff-a-muffin.  He's still pretty hyperactive in his young age, but he's calming down slightly.  He kind of just follows me around the house and sits under my feet.  Well that's what he does when he isn't playing with the cat.

Cheap Entertainment

What is better (or cheaper) than a towel and a water bottle cap?  We have hours of entertainment here for the Piperstink.

What she likes even more is when Dad comes in and plays with her and the towel. She loves that.  She runs into the room as soon as he comes in, ready to be wrapped up in it.
She's a different one.  And I'm a crazy cat lady who posts too many pictures of my cat.

Bring on the Dairy

I have an announcement to make.  My last naturopath appointment and the end of my dairy free diet is next today.  So I probably shouldn't get out of control and go dairy crazy, cause clearly my body would not like that, but I do want to celebrate.  But I don't know where to start.

An example of my love affair with cheesecake

Do I get a Starbucks latte on my way home from my appointment?  The answer is probably.  And it will probably be Pumpkin Spice since everyone in blog land has been raving about it since they came back.  But what about ice cream?  My life has been empty without it.  Healthier, but empty.  Oh and cheese.  Cream cheese in antijitos.  Regular cheese on anything.  Oh and pizza, how can I forget about my love affair with Pizza.

I'm dreaming about Grimaldi's pizza in Brooklyn
I need to pace myself.

It's going to be tricky.

Boys Will Be Boys

Don't ask me what these two have been doing all day.  Ryan and the neighbour have been playing with their boy toys.  Yanking out trees apparently.  I went out for a bit and came home and we had 2 ATV's and 3 lawnmowers in the driveway.  Whatever it is they're up to, it's keeping them busy.

Me on the other hand, I have been very busy doing pretty much nothing on this lovely Sunday!  My favourite kind of weekend.

Question of the Day - This is Serious

If a dog loses a tooth, does the tooth fairy come?

Seriously though, I'm babysitting and I don't want to screw this up.

Happy Friday!

For the Love of Coffee

So I came across this link-up at Lattes and Love about coffee.  And as I believe that I love coffee more than any other person on the planet, I felt like I needed to participate.  I have talked about coffee before on this blog, back on an angry day when McDonald's didn't fill up my cup enough, when I gave up coffee, and when I updated everyone on the dangers to yourself and others of giving up coffee.  I am back on the coffee now.  I couldn't go on without it.

{via}
Back in the day, I used to not be able to pass a Starbucks without stopping for a coffee.  Lucky for me and my bank account, this isn't an issue anymore, because I pass a Starbucks every day on my way to work.

On the 99% of mornings when I don't stop at Starbucks (usually it is an after work treat), I make my own coffee.  And no, none of this fancy pancy Tassimo stuff, (I'm an accountant people, I like my coffee cheap, even if that contradicts what I just said about Starbucks), I make it the old fashioned way.  In a coffee maker.  That has a fancy timer, so that it's ready in the morning.  Whoever decided to put a timer on a coffee maker is a genuis I say!  What about on weekends when I don't know what time I will be waking, you say?  Well Ryan is my timer.  I send him out before I get out of bed and he makes a whole pot full.  It's ready when I crawl out of bed and I drink it all morning until the coffee is gone.

And this is why I get withdrawal headaches.

There you have it, a ramble about my love for coffee.

Canvasing

Look what appeared in our house last night!
That's right.  I finally got some wedding pictures canvased.  And really, I don't mean that finally, because I think that I'm doing pretty good compared to other brides in having this done within the first year of marriage.

I think they are going to go above the couch.  We spent too much money for them to immediately go into the bedroom where nobody except us will see them right?  Pretty sure I want the whole town to see them from the road when they drive by.

The two small ones will go beside the long one, one over the other.

And just to prove how with it I am in this wedding picture thing, we also had our album made within two months of the wedding.  I love these books because you can put all of your pictures in them.  When you get 650 wedding photos, you don't want to have to chose only 30 to put in an album.
