1st Ever Pong n Plop

Have you heard about the Plunger Plop?  Maybe you recall some old posts about it, like this one, or this one, or there is also this one.  Well this year the official Plunger Plop was cancelled.  Which was fairly devastating, until we decided to just hold our own!

What started as a beer pong tournament (that this rare drinker had basically zero interest in), turned into a plunger plop with a few games of beer pong.  It was a fantastic day, like Plunger Plop but better because everyone we were playing with were basically friends!

We shipped the kids off for the day and I was even able to have a few (like maybe 5...) beers.  The winners of the event were a couple of guys who play in the plop every year, which was really great.  This might just have to be something that we do again next year!

Summer has Begun!

This was just a beautiful weekend.  We had amazing weather and a pool to lie beside.  It doesn't get much better than that.

Us Canadians get what feels like 2 weeks of summer followed by 16 months of winter, and so we have to take advantage!

And then there are two year olds.  Oh how I love two year olds.  2-4 are my favourite ages.  I just can't get enough of them.  Ryan says those aren't good ages because they are in diapers.  I feel like I can look past that.  But then again, I'm not changing the diapers of the two year olds that I know.

On Sunday morning we went on a big bike ride through a local park.  It's amazing that this beauty is right in our own backyard and we so rarely take advantage of it.  We travel all over the world to see beautiful sites and we just need to take some time to appreciate what we have 5 minutes from us. Plus, you know I love a good workout and that bike ride definitely felt pretty good.

It seems like we don't do it enough, but my favourite workouts are the ones that I can enjoy with Ryan.  Biking, hiking, waterfall hunting.  You hardly feel like you are working out because you are having fun and also sharing an experience at the same time.  Hopefully we have lots more of it to come this summer!

#introvertproblems

I avoid my local grocery store like the plague.

Ok, maybe that's a bit extreme, but I do try to avoid it as much as possible and here's why.

I'm from a small town.  I generally go grocery shopping on my way home from work, which is in a different town, or in the city.  I rarely see anyone I know there.  On the other hand, if I go grocery shopping in the town I went to high school in, I see somebody from high school pretty much every single time.

This may not be an issue for some people.  But for introvert me, it's just a social situation that I would rather avoid.  I just like to get in and get out when I'm grocery shopping with little to no human interaction.  I have been out of high school for 9 years, if I wanted to see somebody from high school, I would make the effort to see them.

So I'm walking through the grocery store last night and I meet up with this guy that I worked with in another life.  We were never friends or anything, more just acquaintances.  So then it leaves me wondering do I say hi?  Do I just keep walking?  What will he do?  Well he said hi, and I was actually surprised.  I guess he isn't one to avoid social situations like me....

This is the small town problem.  I love my town, I enjoyed high school, but sometimes I just hate running into people I know everywhere.  I don't know whether to say hi, or to stop and talk.  How long can you spend catching up in a grocery store?  Stopping to talk really screws up my 15 minutes in and out plan....

Maybe I'm the minority here, but when you grocery shop, do you want to see people you know?

Living in a Hick Town

This past weekend was the annual Plunger Plop.  A local event where basically we have a big tournament where we throw plungers at toilets.  I talked about last year's even here.  This year was as spectacular as ever.  The first beer was cracked at 8:30am, the last beer was drank at probably around 8:30pm.  We threw plungers and played flip cup in the middle.  Words can't even describe how much fun this day is.
The talented Meaghan got this one in the toilet - 10 points!

My sister requesting NSync - or Nstink?

We actually did pretty well this year.  We lost our first four games.  But once playoff started, we started to win and got to the third round.  Not too shabby.  (So really we only won 2 games out of 7, but let me feel like we did a good job!)

363 days until next years plunger plop.  The count down is on.
