My Anniversary Tradition

Someone once told me that they knew of someone who put on their wedding dress every year.  So I thought, that's a great idea!  Let's see how long I can actually get it on for!

I don't think I've ever actually done it up, which is why it always seems a bit baggy around the middle.  It's a corset tie and that's just too much effort.

Last year I couldn't get it over my thighs....these things happen when you're pregnant.

But this year I got it on again and Parker and I took some selfies.  Look at the judgement in his eyes, I think he's embarrassed by me already.

(3rd Anniversary doesn't exist as it wouldn't of been safe for anyone's eyes...)

4 Years

4 years ago today I married this guy.  Since then we've bought and renovated a house, gone to Jamaica, New York, Chicago, the Dominican Republic and the Finger Lakes of New York.  We've bought 2 trailers (and sold one of course!) We got a rambunctious kitten who has grown into a rambunctious cat.  We've celebrated 4 Christmases and 3 super bowls.  And best of all we've created a teeny tiny baby who is the centre of our entire world.

He's my best friend and my partner.  He's a better cook than I am but I'm making up for it now in cleaning dirty diapers.  He's an amazing dad and I love watching the way that he loves Parker.

So here's to many more years and many more babies together.  (I have to keep throwing that out there until he finally agrees to it...)

Love you fella.

3 Years

Today marks 3 years married to this guy.

He's a really really good husband.  Much better than I am a wife.

Last night he made me ice cream with smarties.  It's the little things.

He turns my heated mattress pad on if he gets into bed before me.

He puts up with me telling him I'm growing a human.  It's one of the useful things I've done since we got married, so I need to tell him once in awhile so that I feel less lazy.

He builds me stuff.  Marry a man who can build you stuff, it's a useful quality.

He lets me plan vacations.  I love planning trips and he just lets me do my thing and then goes along willingly.

He cooks me mac and cheese.  He cooks me a lot of delicious things actually, but last night it was mac and cheese and it was so good.

He makes me coffee on Saturday mornings before I get out of bed.

I'm a lucky lady and this wee baby is going to have the most amazing father.  He knew he wanted a baby long before I did (I mean I knew it, but he was really ready).  The baby is going to be spoiled rotten and will probably get way more ice cream than it should, but it will be so loved.

Happy Anniversary Fella.

A Dress That May or May Not Fit

So I tried to start a tradition last year that I would try my wedding dress on every year on our anniversary.  So I obviously couldn't give up on it already by our second anniversary.  My mother in law had her dress on at their 25th anniversary party, so that's my goal!  I didn't actually make Ryan do it up this year, so it probably could have fit better than it did.  But I also didn't really want to find out if we couldn't get it done up.  It was just better for everyone this way.  It did fit over my hips, so that's something, right?

Pipsi liked the dress even more this year than she did last year because of the tie up string.  She thought that was tons of fun!

Looking at last year's post, I had mentioned that I should maybe get it cleaned.  Can you still get a wedding dress cleaned after 2 years?  It's not that bad, just the bottom is a bit dirty from dragging around on the ground all day.  I didn't do it right away because I had wanted to do a trash the dress photoshoot, but that didn't happen.
It looks like I photoshopped her in to make her look like a giant, but she's actually right in front of me

2 Years

2 years ago today was one of the best days of my life.  I know that in the grand scheme of things, 2 years is nothing, but it kind of feels like we have been doing this forever and yet part of me feels like it was just yesterday.

It still amazes me how little we fight.  It's pretty much smooth sailing (as long as you don't steal food off my plate).

As much as our marriage is just about the two of us, it's about our families too.  They make us who we are.  I'm lucky that Ryan gets along so well with my family.  I'm lucky that Ryan's family has always been so welcoming to me.  We're both lucky that our parents have given us fantastic examples of marriage.

But mostly I'm lucky that Ryan chose me.  I'm lucky that he takes care of me, and does blue jobs and does the gardening because I hate it.  I'm lucky that he's so handy and can do pretty much any household task that I can think up.  I'm lucky that he doesn't take away my TV because I know that the Real Housewives drive him crazy.  I'm lucky that he knows how to cook.  I'm lucky that he likes to travel with me and that we always have a good time together and never get sick of each other.  I'm lucky that he was raised to be respectful and that he treats me well.  I'm just lucky.

Happy 2nd Anniversary Fella.

Our Anniversary Weekend

We interrupt our scheduled wedding posts for a recap of our anniversary weekend!  We went away for our anniversary and had a great time.  We drove up to a ski resort area (yes I know there is no snow yet, although we drove through a minor blizzard on the way there).  But we just got away for a weekend and had some time to ourselves.
We found the only waterfalls in the area.  It wasn't much, but it was something.  It was definitely on private property, so we just stood on the bridge and looked at it, no view from the bottom for us!
We found out about a provincial park that wasn't too far away that had animals.  It had a whole bunch of Canadian animals in it.  Excuse the fence lines, apparently they don't want you sticking your hands in the bear cage.
Birds, foxes, a bear, a wolf, a bob cat, and of course the deer
The dear were so tame, they would come right up to the fence.
I think they thought they were cats.  This one just stood there and let me pet it.  Then it started licking my coat.  It was pretty neat!

There were also hiking trails, so we went for a walk.  It was cold, but a beautiful day.
We had an amazing dinner on the Saturday night.  As long as I have good food I'm happy!

Sunday morning, in order to get the Friday night at the resort for free, we went to a time share presentation.  Usually this isn't something that we would do, but I figured it was worth it because we were getting a whole extra night at the hotel.  (Which was a $160 value apparently).  They almost got us too!  They made it seem like such a good idea.  But in the end we were able to say no.

It was nice to be able to take time to celebrate our first year of marriage together!

1 Year

Today we have been married for a whole year.  A year ago today was the best day of my life.  A day that I hope to always remember, and the day that married my best friend.  Thanks for putting up with me Ryan even though I can barely cook, don't particularly like cleaning and watch way too much reality TV.  They say the first year is the hardest.  I guess every moment wasn't easy, but if that was as hard as it gets I'm sure we will be just fine!

Happy Anniversary to my Fella
Here's to 50 more

Oh and this kicks off wedding week!  Or maybe the double wedding week (because I think I have more than 4 posts).  I have been saving up all of the deets of our wedding festivities for some special anniversary posts.  Maybe I will throw in our honeymoon too if I get around to it.
