3 Years

Today marks 3 years married to this guy.

He's a really really good husband.  Much better than I am a wife.

Last night he made me ice cream with smarties.  It's the little things.

He turns my heated mattress pad on if he gets into bed before me.

He puts up with me telling him I'm growing a human.  It's one of the useful things I've done since we got married, so I need to tell him once in awhile so that I feel less lazy.

He builds me stuff.  Marry a man who can build you stuff, it's a useful quality.

He lets me plan vacations.  I love planning trips and he just lets me do my thing and then goes along willingly.

He cooks me mac and cheese.  He cooks me a lot of delicious things actually, but last night it was mac and cheese and it was so good.

He makes me coffee on Saturday mornings before I get out of bed.

I'm a lucky lady and this wee baby is going to have the most amazing father.  He knew he wanted a baby long before I did (I mean I knew it, but he was really ready).  The baby is going to be spoiled rotten and will probably get way more ice cream than it should, but it will be so loved.

Happy Anniversary Fella.

Why We Work

We work because because Ryan likes to do activities (also known as chores), and is generally ok with the fact that I don't.

We work because we both had similar upbringings and so we want the same things out of life.

We work because we support each other with our dreams and ambitions.

We work because I don't mind that Ryan needs his Wednesday nights with the guys.  And I actually really enjoy the time to myself.

We work because neither of us really like to fight.  So we don't.  But also there rarely seems to be anything worth fighting over.

We work because Ryan gets up early on Saturday mornings and makes me coffee and cleans the kitchen.

We work because we're honest with each other and don't keep secrets.

We work because we both like going out and seeing new things, and travelling and trying new foods.  And we love to do it together.

We work because Ryan tells me that The Real Housewives is stupid, and I tell him that Swamp Loggers (or insert weird guy show here) is stupid, but we don't really mind that the other person is watching it.

But mostly I guess we work because we care, we care about each other and our marriage and so we work hard to make sure that the other person is happy.  And that's what marriage is all about.
Linking up with Bonnie & Taylor for this Why We Work post.

2 Years

2 years ago today was one of the best days of my life.  I know that in the grand scheme of things, 2 years is nothing, but it kind of feels like we have been doing this forever and yet part of me feels like it was just yesterday.

It still amazes me how little we fight.  It's pretty much smooth sailing (as long as you don't steal food off my plate).

As much as our marriage is just about the two of us, it's about our families too.  They make us who we are.  I'm lucky that Ryan gets along so well with my family.  I'm lucky that Ryan's family has always been so welcoming to me.  We're both lucky that our parents have given us fantastic examples of marriage.

But mostly I'm lucky that Ryan chose me.  I'm lucky that he takes care of me, and does blue jobs and does the gardening because I hate it.  I'm lucky that he's so handy and can do pretty much any household task that I can think up.  I'm lucky that he doesn't take away my TV because I know that the Real Housewives drive him crazy.  I'm lucky that he knows how to cook.  I'm lucky that he likes to travel with me and that we always have a good time together and never get sick of each other.  I'm lucky that he was raised to be respectful and that he treats me well.  I'm just lucky.

Happy 2nd Anniversary Fella.

3-0

Today is this guys birthday.  He's 30.  The big 3-0.

So being a very important birthday, this week has been full of birthday activities.  We started with a party for Ryan with his friends on Saturday night.  One of his friends made a Plink-O board (or drink-o might be more accurate).  It was a dangerous game.
It was also a game which resulted in some twerking lessons.
We also had a birthday dinner at my parents house on Friday night.  30 candles is a lot, so my dad felt the need to light them with a blow torch.

And then last night Ryan and I went out for his birthday dinner.  We went to this local restaurant that has half price burgers on Monday.  2 burgers, a beer, a diet coke and the most delicious hot fudge cake ever came to $31 with taxes and tip.  And that my friends is the way to this accountant's heart.  I thought it was his birthday, not mine!

Anyways, back to the birthday boy.  So all of this took place before his birthday.  Last but not least we are off to his parents for another birthday dinner tonight.  He's obviously spoiled!  But I love food, so I'm not going to complain.

Ryan,
I can't believe you're 30 lil guy.  I hope you have an awesome birthday and enjoy every minute!  Can't wait to celebrate some more with you tonight. Happy Birthday fella.

Kaileigh & Ryan in the Morning

I started off this morning by pouring water in my cheerios.  And that my friends is how I already know that I should just go back to bed.  But no, I will go to work and try to struggle through this Friday.  At least at the end of the day we have a long weekend!
Not actually our bed....
I've noticed lately that Ryan and I have very different mornings.  Here are our schedules (on a week when Ryan starts work at 6:30)

Kaileigh
6:00am - Alarm goes off.  Get out of bed as quickly as possible, no time to spare or else the whole day might be ruined
6:02 - Get in shower
6:10 - Get a coffee, bring it to the bathroom
6:10-6:30 - Work on hair and makeup
6:30 - Get some breakfast, sit down at computer to read blogs and possibly write a blog post
6:58 - See that I should be leaving for work in 2 minutes, get dressed and pack my lunch, make sure I have gym clothes for work if I need them
7:07 - Actually get in my car and leave for work
8:00 - Arrive at work

Ryan
6:00am - Alarm goes off
6:10 - Still laying in bed.  Call the kitten to come play
6:20 - Still laying in bed.  Get up, yell to Kaileigh "Why'd you let me sleep in?"
6:21 - Shower
6:25 - Brush teeth
6:27 - Get dressed
6:29 - Leave for work
6:30 - Arrive at work

Guys have it made, don't they?

1 Year

Today we have been married for a whole year.  A year ago today was the best day of my life.  A day that I hope to always remember, and the day that married my best friend.  Thanks for putting up with me Ryan even though I can barely cook, don't particularly like cleaning and watch way too much reality TV.  They say the first year is the hardest.  I guess every moment wasn't easy, but if that was as hard as it gets I'm sure we will be just fine!

Happy Anniversary to my Fella
Here's to 50 more

Oh and this kicks off wedding week!  Or maybe the double wedding week (because I think I have more than 4 posts).  I have been saving up all of the deets of our wedding festivities for some special anniversary posts.  Maybe I will throw in our honeymoon too if I get around to it.

Boys Will Be Boys

Don't ask me what these two have been doing all day.  Ryan and the neighbour have been playing with their boy toys.  Yanking out trees apparently.  I went out for a bit and came home and we had 2 ATV's and 3 lawnmowers in the driveway.  Whatever it is they're up to, it's keeping them busy.

Me on the other hand, I have been very busy doing pretty much nothing on this lovely Sunday!  My favourite kind of weekend.

Saturday

Pipsi generally starts walking on my head and purring loudly at around 6 in the morning, which is ok because I get up at 6:30 (not preferred but ok).  Well someone forgot to tell her that it was the weekend, it is not ok on a Saturday morning.

Anywho, when you take a week off from blogging and come back you don't even really know where to start.  Where I should start is in the cleaning of my house.  The whole place needs vacuumed, I need to do laundry, generally just organize.  It got out of control while I was studying.  I also should really garden now that I have a free moment.  And by garden I mean weed.  But it's raining, so I probably won't get that urge again for about 3 months and at that point, why even bother.

Going through my pictures I have come up with these beauties.

Bambi used to live in our backyard.  Bambi is about 300 pounds.  One of Ryan's friends wanted him.  Your problem now Cole!

Ryan and his buddy Adam have mini bikes.  Ryan likes to ride around town.  It may be the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen.

Safety first? I think not.

Happy weekend.
