For the Love of Coffee

So I came across this link-up at Lattes and Love about coffee.  And as I believe that I love coffee more than any other person on the planet, I felt like I needed to participate.  I have talked about coffee before on this blog, back on an angry day when McDonald's didn't fill up my cup enough, when I gave up coffee, and when I updated everyone on the dangers to yourself and others of giving up coffee.  I am back on the coffee now.  I couldn't go on without it.

Back in the day, I used to not be able to pass a Starbucks without stopping for a coffee.  Lucky for me and my bank account, this isn't an issue anymore, because I pass a Starbucks every day on my way to work.

On the 99% of mornings when I don't stop at Starbucks (usually it is an after work treat), I make my own coffee.  And no, none of this fancy pancy Tassimo stuff, (I'm an accountant people, I like my coffee cheap, even if that contradicts what I just said about Starbucks), I make it the old fashioned way.  In a coffee maker.  That has a fancy timer, so that it's ready in the morning.  Whoever decided to put a timer on a coffee maker is a genuis I say!  What about on weekends when I don't know what time I will be waking, you say?  Well Ryan is my timer.  I send him out before I get out of bed and he makes a whole pot full.  It's ready when I crawl out of bed and I drink it all morning until the coffee is gone.

And this is why I get withdrawal headaches.

There you have it, a ramble about my love for coffee.

Ranting about McDonald's and Coffee

Two posts in one day?  I know crazy.  But some things just need to be said.

What was going to start as a rant about coffee has turned into a rant about McDonald's as well.

First of all, I went to McDonald's for breakfast this morning on my way to work because I did something crazy and went to 6:30 am yoga and I also had a coupon.  So I order my BLT bagel because it is cheese free, and a hash brown (yum) and a coffee.

So I get to the office and take a look at my coffee to find this.

Can someone tell me where the rest of my coffee is?  If I order a black coffee, that means I'm not adding anything to it.  So fill it up please.  At least to that line at the top.  Isn't that what that line is for?

Side rant: You know when you go to a restaurant for breakfast and the coffee is unlimited?  Does anyone else hate it when they don't constantly fill up your coffee?  Only a non-coffee drinking waitress would not fill it up.  If I order unlimited coffee it's because I want to enjoy 6 cups of it over breakfast.  Clearly this girl at McDoon's wasn't a coffee drinker either.

Ok back to McDonald's.  So then after my coffee annoyance I open up my "BLT".
Does that looks like a BLT?  To me it looks like an egg and bacon bagel with cheese.

I have nothing more to say.

Cup 'o Joe Update

It has been 5 days now that I have been without coffee, so I thought I would update y'all (can I say that if I'm from Ontario?) on what it has been like.

My life has been empty.

Ok so Thursday was a brutal day.  I knew about the withdrawal headaches.  Nobody told me that I would be exhausted, have trouble concentrating and that the slightest annoyance would turn me into the incredible hulk.  It was bad. I just wanted a coffee so badly!

It's gotten better since then.  I'm a lucky one I think because I read that withdrawal symptoms can last two to nine days.  I can't even imagine if it had of lasted for nine days!  I'm still tired every day, but who knows if that's coffee related.

Unfortunately, I don't think coffee was the cause of my issues. But I think I will go my two weeks without it at this point just for detox purposes.  Maybe.  We will see how the weekend goes.

So now any of you who are considering cutting down on your caffeine intake have been warned.  It's not pretty.  Prepare yourself and those around you.

Coffee, coffee coffee coffee

On a scale of 1 to 10, my love for coffee is a 25.  It's extreme.  My life would be incomplete without it.  I have gone through stages of approximately 7 cups a day.  Currently I am at about 4.  Except Saturdays and Sundays, because Ryan and I make a full pot and I typically drink til it's gone.  Like how a dog will just keep eating and eating as long as there is food in front of him because he doesn't know any better.  Yes my intelligence level is that of a dog.

I have had some stomach problems for a couple of years now.  A few years ago the doctor kind of mentioned how coffee could make them worse, but I chose to ignore her.  Now, the pains are back, along with some other symptoms, such as acid reflux.  I am wondering if coffee is to blame.

So yesterday morning was my last coffee as I head into a test phase to see if cutting it out makes a difference.  Realistically, this should be the easiest solution.  I have been wondering about a lactose intolerance or gluten allergy.  Cutting out milk and gluten would be tricky.  Coffee should be easy right?

Bring on the withdrawal headaches.....
