Expect the Unexpected....It Starts Again

I really want to blog today because I've been seriously slacking lately, but I just don't know what I want to talk about.  So I just opened up a new post and started writing....

Ok let's talk about Big Brother.

It's weird for me because Big Brother Canada just ended a few weeks ago.  So honestly I'm kind of Big Brother'd out.  Plus when comparing last seasons's Big Brother and either season of Big Brother Canada, the Canadian version was actually significantly better with more likeable players.  Step up your game America!

But anyways, I've watched every season, so I can't quit now.

Here are my picks for who will do the best after watching the first two episodes (I always like to make these predictions just to see if I can pick them right, which I usually can't)

Amber Borzotra
Amber
I don't know if Amber will actually do well, but she seems fairly put together and likeable.

Cody Calafiore
Cody
If Cody can make it past the first week he will make it far, because he's cute and people already like him.

Donny Thompson
Donny
I LOVE Donny!  He has the cutest smile and is just so endearing.  I think if he can get in with the right people he will be super trustworthy and will fly under the radar.  He also knows the game, and I think that his strategy to just try to come across funny is a great one at this point in the game!
Joey Van Pelt
Joey
Once again people like her, America likes her already and she seems smart.  I feel like she might run this show.

On the other hand, there are a few people that I think are going to do terribly in this game.
Zach Rance
Zach
Zach's home interview stated that he hated people who talked, breathed and lived.  He came into the house and said that he didn't care what any of these people had to say he just wanted to win the game.  Well then bud, you need to find a new game to play.  Big Brother is predominately a social game, and unless he's a super good actor, it's the relationships that you make that win you this game.  I expect him to be gone very soon if anybody else picks up on his hatred for people.

Caleb Reynolds
Caleb
Winning the first HOH is generally never a good thing.  And being cocky from the beginning is also not good.  People will now see him as a threat plus he acts like he knows he's a threat, which is just annoying.

Are there any other Big Brother fans out there?  What did you think of the newbies on this season?

TV Time in the Summer

It drives Ryan nuts how much TV I watch.  But I can't help it, it's just the way that I am.  I don't have outdoor activities like he does.  He probably wishes I would spend my TV time actually putting away all of the clean laundry....I mean I don't have 4 hampers full of clean laundry waiting to be put away!

This summer I have actually found that my TV schedule is fuller than usual.  That's probably not a good thing.  Of course Big Brother is one of my favourites and it always takes up three nights a week.

My biggest issue is that everything is on Monday nights.  5 hours of TV.  Don't worry, I don't watch it all, I tape some of them to watch later.

So I start out my Monday nights with Under the Dome.  I missed the first episode but have gotten totally into this show.  I can't wait to find out what they do when they run out of food!

Then of course, there is The Amazing Race Canada.  I think that they are doing a great job with this, and it doesn't seem cheesy like a lot of Canadian TV.  Canada is really stepping up their game with their reality TV shows!

I think that my favourite show at the moment is Mistresses.  I have said that I would watch this even if it was on in the fall and I had to choose it over some of the other shows that I watch.  It's kind of a cross between Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives.  And that right there is a good combination.

My other go to shows are The Real Housewives of Orange County, The Challenge: Rivals II and Kendra on Top (hides head in shame).  Nothing like watching other people's train wrecks for your own enjoyment!  But seriously, can Diem and CT just get married already?

It looks like the trend here is reality.  I don't know why I can't quit you reality TV.
Something I would never say....{via}

Expect the Unexpected

It's that time again! Big Brother is back to consume my life. At the beginning of every season I like to look at the house guests and take a guess at who will make it to the end. So much is based on the alliances that they make an who wins HOH each week. This season has a whole new twist to it as besides the HOH nominating 2 people for eviction, a fan voted MVP will also nominate someone for eviction. This could be a game changer as regardless of the alliance of the HOH, another alliance could still have the power to evict someone of their choosing at the end. Floaters grab your life vest is right!
Aaryn
Aaryn
I see Aaryn doing well in this game because she's a pretty girl who seems both smart and social and she didn't annoy me during the first episode. Some girls are just a bit too much and come on strong and I feel like they won't make it.

Nick
Nick
I think that Nick might have what it takes because he seems like an alright guy, not super athletic looking or anything, so I don't think he will be seen as a huge threat. I feel that he could play the Dan game of flying under the radar and making other people do his dirty work.

David
David
How do I put this nicely? That look on David's face in the picture? Kind of what he looks like all the time. Goofy and not incredibly bright. And for that reason, I think that he will join up with other athletes in an alliance and since he won't be the mastermind behind any decisions, his alliance members will be targeted before him.

Big Brother always finds a way to make the season interesting. The great thing about this show is that since it is aired basically live, they can make changes to the format and add twists depending on viewer reactions and how interesting the cast is making the show. I can't wait to see what is to come this summer!

Farewell, Old Friend

My PVR just died.  I was in the middle of enjoying an episode of The Real Housewives of Orange County when it just stopped.  Then it told me that I had to reformat my PVR, which it wouldn't let me do.  So I unplugged the PVR.  Last time this happened we did that and it started working again, without us actually losing any of the 1,568,578 hours of TV that we had (I mean I had) recorded.  Now it doesn't even read that we have a PVR.

So now I'm blogging, hoping that the PVR is just angry with me and is perhaps sick of playing The Real Housewives and needs a break.  If I go back in half an hour maybe it will work...

Luckily, TV season is basically over, so I'm not losing too much.  We will lose the 6 episodes that we haven't watched of Two and a Half Men and a whole bunch of movies that I had taped from the Movie Channel.  But it could be worse.  That's what I keep telling myself.

On a happier note, last week I purchased a new camera lens.  It's a 35mm F1.8.  It's just beautiful, and she's so petite and cute.  I haven't had a lot of time to play around with it, but so far I'm pretty happy!  I had been wanting the 50mm forever, but was questioning whether I should go for the $250 version of the lens, or buy a better camera so that I could get the $150 version.  Then the other day, I just felt the urge to buy it, and the 35mm was on sale.  It's probably cheaper to spend an extra $100 on the lens as opposed to buying a new camera.  I'm really impressed with the amount of light that it lets in.  No flash required for indoor shots, it's fantastical!

The Quack Pack Prevails - So Far

I was just looking at my Big Brother post from the beginning of the season.  And I've just got to mention that 3 of my 4 picks are in the final 5.  I wish I was part of a Fantasy Big Brother league.  Because I would be kicking butt.

So we are down to Dan, Dannielle, Ian, Shane and Jenn.  Jenn?  How is she even still in this.  She hasn't done anything strategic all summer.  Unless you could teaming up with Frank after he proved that he had staying power.  Well I guess that power wasn't strong enough because then Frank went home and now Jenn is all alone.

I feel that I should do end of season predictions.  I predict that Jenn will go home this week.  Shane will win the next HOH and send home Dan.  Shane will then also win the final HOH and send home Ian.  Shane will win Big Brother.

Who would've thought this guy would make it this far?

I think Shane will send home Ian because he is the easy choice over Dannielle, but also because I think that Ian could win against Shane.  I would love to see Ian win the whole thing, but I just don't have the confidence that he will win the final HOH.  There is also the possibility that Shane keeps Dan because he thinks that nobody will give Dan the money again.  But if I were him, I wouldn't risk it.
Showmancing

So there are my predictions for anybody who has no life just like me.  I could be totally wrong because Dan is smart and knows to get rid of stronger players.  But I really want Jenn gone this week because then the final four will really deserve to be there.  Good thing this show will be ending just in time for all my other shows to take over my life.

Expect the Unexpected

I commute an hour to work each way, so I get pretty into my morning radio shows.  The other day they were discussing your go to summer TV show.

In the summer most of your shows are on a wee break.  So you are left to your own devices and have to be more creative.  For me, Big Brother has always been my summer show.  Summer is the only time when I could possibly watch a TV show on three different days.  It's crap TV and is highly addictive and I'm so glad that it's back for another season!  The first episode was last night and boy oh boy am I pumped for a summer of expecting the unexpected!

My choices for the grand prize are:

Danielle

Ian

Ashley
Danielle because the cute southern girl usually wins her way into everyone's hearts (a la Jordan Lloyd).  Ian because he seems smart and easy going.  Hopefully he doesn't get annoying.  Ashley because I think she might come across as sweet but be very strategic.
Shane
I think that the best bet for a showmance is Shane and Danielle.  But I might just want to relive the Jeff and Jordan romance.  I wouldn't mind Shane winning because I would love for Britney to win the coaching prize.  Funny, each person I chose above is on a different team.  I'm rooting overall for Britney and Janelle's teams though.

(All photos are from the Big Brother website.)

Clearly this new season has won me over in the first hour.  I have gotten totally distracted.  I hope somebody else out there cares about this post.  If not, oh well.

I have also gotten into the Vampire Diaries.  I had never watched it before, but I got Season 1 on DVD for my birthday.  It started as a show to watch while working out.  Now I want to just keep watching.  It's dangerous.  Who has seasons two and three for me to borrow?

Glee!

Glee was back tonight and oh how I missed it!  The best part of it was the Somebody That I Used to Know cover.  It was pretty well done.  When I heard that they were doing it and that it would be sung by Blaine and his brother I didn't think it made sense, since it is a male and female that sing it in all of the other versions.  But with the episode and the introduction of Blaine's brother and their relationship it made sense.  Nothing beats this other version though, done by Walk Off the Earth.

Here they both are for anyone who hasn't experienced them yet!

Now I'm going to eat a chocolate cupcake with chocolate peanut butter icing, drink some milk and watch the 2nd last episode of Ringer!  Oh Tuesday how I love you and all of your tv shows.
