The Hills Are Alive

I finally finished watching the Live version of The Sound of Music.  I had seen some reviews on it, and almost didn't want to watch because everyone said Carrie Underwood was terrible.  I didn't think she was that bad!  The girl is a singer, not an actress, so taking that into consideration I thought she was amazing.
Michael Nigro as Friedrich, Ella Watt-Gorman as Louisa, Joe West as Kurt, Sophia Anne-Caruso as Brigitta, Grace Rundhaug as Marta, Ariane Rinehart as Liesl, Peyton Ella as Gretl and Carrie Underwood as Maria in The Sound of Music Live!.

I think that people had such high expectations of it because they thought it would be like the movie, but it was more of a cross between the movie and broadway.  When doing it live, it can't be like a movie, there's no real mountain!

And then I googled Maria Von Trapp.  Let me tell you, I kind of feel like my childhood is a lie.  And now I'm going to ruin it for all of you.  Apparently Maria really wanted to be a nun, and she wasn't in love with Captain Von Trapp.  She loved the children and that's why she agreed to marry him.  They also got married in 1927, not 1938.  They left Austria because they refused to sing for Hitler.  And she wasn't as pretty as Julie Andrews or Carrie Underwood, but I guess that's a bit shallow of me.  So let's just forget I said all of that and pretend that the movie is 100% factual.

And now I have had Sound of Music songs in my head for two days.  Yesterday morning it was The Sound of Music, yesterday afternoon it was How Do You Solve a Problem Like Maria.  This morning it's Edelweiss.  I need less Sound of Music and more Christmas in my head!

The Blogmopolitan Quiz

So Erin over at Two Thirds Hazel posted this fun little quiz today, and I just had to participate, because I had nothing else planned!  But it's also great for anybody who may be new around here to learn a bit more about me!

I just realized that I forgot to answer the question about superpowers.  Although flying would be very handy, there have been many days as I'm leaving the office that I have actually said (out loud) that I wish I could teleport home.  I guess it's quicker than flying anyways, just not as scenic!

Christmas Movie Season!

I feel as if time isn't on our side when it comes to the Christmas movies that we still have to watch in the less than 3 weeks before Christmas!

First up, I'm pretty sure I need to fit The Santa Clause in tomorrow at some point.

The Santa Clause = the best Christmas movie ever made
Then of course I will need to watch The Santa Clause 2.  I'm not sure which one is my favourite, the first or the second.  I don't think I could choose, they go together like lamb and tuna fish.  (Name that movie....)

The Christmas season just isn't complete for me without these movies.  I love that they totally explain Santa, how he will get into my house since we don't have a fire place and how he gets around the world in one night. And I still think that if I don't believe in Santa, no presents will be under my tree on Christmas morning, hence why I still believe.

And we can't forget The Santa Clause 3.  Although not my favourite, it completes the films, so it has to be watched!

Maybe next weekend while we are putting up our tree we will watch Home Alone, a holiday classic that Ryan will actually watch with me.  It's not the holidays if you aren't watching a movie about a little boy who gets left alone and then destroys his house trying to fight off bad guys.  It really brings on the Christmas spirit.

And then we will watch Home Alone 2: Lost in New York, once again because you can't watch the first one without the second.

And I know that I have already watched The Holiday, but a little bit more Cameron Diaz and Jude Law is never a bad thing.

No you're lovely Jude Law
So it looks like I have a busy two and a half weeks coming up.  I better fit some shopping in there too...
