What Do The People Say?

When I was little, there was this book at my grandparents that they would always read to me.  I guess it was about sounds, but all I remember is Grandpa saying "What do the people say" and I would throw my hands in the air and say "Hooray!"

It's one of those memories that stick with you.  Something that always makes me smile when I think about it.
I was a bit of a chubster
For my birthday, I unwrapped this tattered old book.  It was What Do The People Say!  The original version from my Grandma's house.  It's missing the cover and a few pages from the back.  I really can't believe that she still had it.  The funny thing is, this book is old school.  The line actually says "How do the people go? Hooray!"  That doesn't sound nearly as good.
Then, she found me a used copy of the book.  It's funny because I don't know when either one of them were published, but sometime between the two, they decided to change the wording of everything.  So now it really does say, What do the people say? Hooray!

Who knows, maybe once I have kids of my own, I will send the book to my parents house so that they can read it with them.
